Lauren Skunta’s new series explores the intersection of the human form and the materiality of the earth. Figures emerge through mineral paint and natural pigments, suspended between life drawing and abstraction. Each pose becomes both a study of anatomy and a meditation on texture, weight, and presence.

Rooted in traditions of observation, the works treat gesture not only as anatomy but as a textured landscape where line dissolves into surface. Through layers of pigment and mark-making, Skunta blurs the boundary between study and expression, inviting viewers to see the body as both subject and material.
